During his address, Dr Opoku Prempeh (Napo) pledged to visit all seven paramount chiefs in the constituency before the 7 December elections

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made history in Bekwai by visiting the constituency twice within four days. This remarkable move according to his handlers, demonstrates his reverence for the chiefs and people of Bekwai.

On 21 September 2024, Dr Opoku Prempeh visited the Amoafo and Bekwai traditional councils, marking his first stop. He then paid homage to the paramount chief and people of the Kokofu traditional council within four days.

These visits aimed to introduce himself as the NPP running mate for the 2024 elections, seek blessings and counsel, and present Dr Bawumia and the NPP’s message of hope and possibilities to the chiefs and people of Bekwai.

During his address, D\r Opoku Prempeh pledged to visit all seven paramount chiefs in the constituency before the 7 December elections. He urged the chiefs to encourage their subjects to retain the NPP in power, highlighting the benefits of Free SHS and other developmental projects.

The running mate also endorsed Lawyer Ralph Poku-Adusei as the ideal candidate to succeed Mr  Joseph Osei Owusu (Joe Wise) and cautioned against supporting independent candidates who may harm the party’s interests.

Dr Opoku Prempeh emphasised Bekwai’s unique position in the Ashanti region, boasting seven paramount chiefs and nine Abrempong owing allegiance to the Golden stool. He vowed to ensure the NPP secures a decisive victory in both presidential and parliamentary elections.

This historic campaign has revitalized NPP executives, sympathizers, and constituents, signaling a strong momentum for the party in the upcoming elections.
