NDC needlessly causing tension with demands for forensic audit of voters’ register, says NPP

The NDC on Tuesday embarked on a nationwide protest over the Electoral Commission's refusal to conduct a forensic audit of the voters’ register ahead of the December elections

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is deliberately causing tension over the voters register ahead of the 7 December polls, the general secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua has said.

The NDC on Tuesday embarked on a nationwide protest over the Electoral Commission‘s refusal to conduct a forensic audit of the voters’ register ahead of the December elections.

The general secretary of the NPP said the opposition NDC supported of the EC when the ruling party was refused a similar request back in 2015.

Addressing a news conference on Thursday (19 September), Frimpong Kodua said the NDC is being hypocritical in their demands for an independent audit of the voters register.

”We ask where lies the commitment of the NDC to help produce a credible register when they are refusing to submit evidence of an alleged irregularity to the EC in view of the submission made by the New Patriotic Party.”

”It is obvious that the recent agitations by the NDC pertaining the 2024 provisional register is needless deceptive mischievous and a deliberate attempt to create tensions in the country knowing very well that they are bound to lose the 2024 general election,” Frimpong Kodua said.

”It is hypocritical for the DC to be ordering the electoral commission to conduct an independent forensic audit of the provisional register,” he added.
