The Eastern regional minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, has said residents who were caught on tape scraping the chippings on the shoulders of the Nkawkaw New Abirem road will be arrested and prosecuted.

Acheampong has since directed the district security council to launch a manhunt for the culprits after Asaase Radio brought his attention to the development.

Talking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on Wednesday ( 20 April), Acheampong said the act is criminal and inimical to the development. of Ghana.

“This road has been lying unattended to for a long time. Fortunately we got Newmont and COCOBOD, so the real name of the road is Nkawkaw New Abirem road and like I said this road has seen a lot of rehabilitation.

Watch the video below:

“And it even costed my predecessor who was the former MP of the Nkawkaw Constituency. It is so disheartening that today the contractor has done very well to push the project further by bringing some bitumen and chippings for us to see a black road,” Acheampong said.

He added: “And residents who chastised the government that the government was insensitive, turn around and sweep off the shoulder chippings ….it is so bad that you will find the same people go and destroy what we have built. I have asked the DCE to hold the district security council and get us the culprits… so we see the necessary punitive measures to mete out to the culprit.”
