Newmont reaffirms commitment to Ghana as CEO calls on Lands Minister

Palmer expressed the company's gratitude for the government’s unwavering support, particularly regarding the new mine in Ahafo, which has been key to advancing their operations

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor  on Thursday (19 September) hosted a high-level delegation from Newmont Corporation, led by its president and CEO, Tom Palmer, at the Ministry.

The meeting served as a platform for discussions surrounding Newmont’s operations and ongoing investments in Ghana.

Palmer expressed the company’s gratitude for the government’s unwavering support, particularly regarding the new mine in Ahafo, which has been key to advancing their operations.

In response, the Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a favourable investment climate that attracts and sustains major investors such as Newmont.

He emphasized that the government’s continued support has played a pivotal role in boosting investments across the country’s natural resources sector.

This meeting underscores Newmont Corporation’s dedication to deepening its footprint in Ghana and the government’s active role in ensuring the mining sector thrives as a critical component of the national economy.

Newmont Corporation, renowned for operating the largest gold mine in the country, located in Ahafo in the Ahafo Region, is currently constructing another significant mine in the same region.
