The Nkwanta South MCE, Bright Kwame Lenwah, has appealed to the general public and the people of Oti Region to accept the much-talked about E-Levy to boost economic growth.
“I urge all of us here in Nkwanta to show positive attitude towards work by being punctual and regular and give their best to rebuild the economy to the pre-COVID era,” Lenwah told Asaase News.
“Again, I urge all of us to embrace the E-Levy bill that is currently before Parliament and talk to our various parliamentarians, especially the MP for Nkwanta South to accept the bill so that the next time it is introduced we will have a unanimous decision by Parliament to accept and pass it into law,” he added.
The MCE was speaking to Asaase News on the sidelines of the celebration of this year’s 65th Independence Day parade in the municipality. A total of 600 school children from 18 schools participated in the event.
According to him, COVID-19 destroyed Ghana’s economy therefore the current government’s introduction of the E-Levy.
The MCE is therefore appealing to the MP for Nkwanta South Geoffrey Kini to accept the E-Levy and convince his colleagues to embrace it.
“The MP is our representative at Parliament and it is in Parliament that the decision takes place as to whether to accept the E Levy or not. It is only proper to make a special appeal to him to accept it when it is brought before the House for votes to be passed.
“For us to work together we need to be united as a people, we need to give peace a chance, to improve upon our economy,” he added.
