NPP Bekwai executives introduce Ralph Poku-Adusei, 2024 parliamentary candidate to “Nananom”

New Patriotic Party delegates in Bekwai on 27 January elected Ralph Poku-Adusei as their parliamentary candidate for the December election

Bekwai constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have commenced the process of introducing their 2024 parliamentary candidate, Ralph Poku-Adusei to the chiefs and elders in the whole Bekwai municipality.

New Patriotic Party delegates in Bekwai in the Ashanti Region chose a new path to progress and development in their constituency when they elected the young Ghanaian lawyer and true Bekwai indigene Ralph Poku-Adusei as their parliamentary candidate for the December 2024 general election.

The primary, held on Saturday (27 January 2024), saw Poku-Adusei who was second on the ballot paper with three other candidates, poll 662 votes out of a total of 938, representing 70% of the valid votes cast.

His closest contender, Commissioner of Police (Rtd) George Alex Mensah, secured 245 votes, which was 26% of the valid votes cast. Of the two other aspirants, Kingsley Opoku Agyeman won only one vote, representing 0.001%, and Henry Opoku Adusei secured 30 votes, amounting to 3% of the valid votes cast.

As part of efforts to show respect to the chiefs and elders of Amansie, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bekwai, Kwaku Kyei Baffour, together with constituency executives, some electoral area coordinators and polling station executives, and past constituency executives, visited some traditional areas to introduce Ralph Poku-Adusei to the chiefs and elders.

In a brief address to the media, MCE of Bekwai observed that their new parliamentary candidate over the years has proven that he has the Bekwai municipality at heart and he is very interested in the progress and development of the municipality.

“This is why we have decided to introduce him to all the chiefs and elders in the whole of the Bekwai municipality. We will visit every chief and we will introduce our parliamentary candidate to them and to ask for their blessing ahead of the December 2024 elections,” Kwaku Kyei Baffour said.

Ralph Poku-Adusei on his part said it is a great honour to have been elected as the 2024 parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the Bekwai constituency. He further indicated that he is looking forward to serving the good people of Bekwai to the best of his ability.

“Nananom” are a very important part of the Bekwai constituency and my team and I thought it wise to visit them to introduce myself to them and to solicit their blessing ahead of the general elections. Their blessing is crucial ahead of the bigger battle ahead,” Ralph Poku-Adusei said.

“For all the chiefs and elders, we have visited, their response has been extremely good and they have all been very welcoming. They have given me and my campaign team very responsible advice which we intend to cherish dearly throughout the campaign season” Poku-Adusei added.

As part of the first day of the tour, Ralph Poku-Adu and his team visited Amoaful, Asakyire, and Asamang traditional areas. The team on day two, visited Adankragya, Bekwai, Kokofu, and Essumeja. The team is set to visit the remaining traditional areas in the coming weeks.
