The New Patriotic Party (NPP), as part of the Fetu Afahye celebration, has donated essential items to the Children’s Ward of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
The donation, valued at GHC12,000, aims to put smiles on the faces of the children at the ward.
The donation included biscuits, soft drinks, wipes, diapers, toiletries and play toys.
The NPP’s deputy general secretary, Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko, presented the donation on behalf of the party to the hospital’s management, emphasising the party’s commitment to supporting healthcare delivery in Ghana.
Tsiboe-Darko said, the donation to the ward, which is done annually is part of the NPP’s efforts to demonstrate their dedication to the well-being of Ghanaians, especially children. She said the donation was to afford the children on admission and their parents the opportunity to join in the Afahye celebration.
“This year, when we were coming to the Afahye, we decided to come and share something with the children to mark the festival. It’s all in the spirit of loving and giving and that’s what NPP is all about”, she stated.
The NPP parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast North, Horace Ekow Ewusi who accompanied the deputy general secretary, paid over GHC4,000 to settle the medical bills of three children detained at the Hospital.
The patients, some of whom have been on admission at the paediatrics ward between two weeks and one month and treated of their ailments, were detained due to their inability to settle their medical bills.
Ekow Ewusi who heard the plight of the detained children when the team interacted with their parents, decided to settle their bills.
Afia Attakorah, chief nursing officer at the Paediatric unit, expressed her gratitude for the timely donation and the settling of the medical bills of the detained patients stating that the beneficiaries of the gesture really needed help to be able to settle their bills.
She expressed appreciation to the group for their continuous benevolence.
