NPP Primaries: Adwoa Safo loses Dome-Kwabenya to Mike Oquaye Jnr

Sarah Adwoa Safo, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection/New Patriotic Party (NPP)

The incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP Sarah Adwoa Safo faced a competitive race in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, and secured 398 votes.

However, it was Mike Oquaye Jnr who emerged victorious on Saturday (27 January), with an impressive 1,194 votes.

Sheila Oppong Sakyi, who had campaigned to NPP delegates on a platform of being “passionate”, “dependable” and “hard working”, followed with 186 votes.

The battle for the Dome-Kwabenya parliamentary seat has been one of the most keenly contested races, as two seasoned rivals worked to unseat the famous sitting MP for the area – Sarah Adwoa Safo.
