Customers in three regions owe GWCL over GHC11.5 million

The Bono Regional Communications Officer of the GWCL, Nii Abbey Nicholas revealed this during a presentation at an interaction between the GWCL Management and the Media in Sunyani to mark World Water Day

Private customers of theĀ Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL)Ā in the Bono, Ahafo, andĀ Bono EastĀ Regions owe the company more than GHC11.5 million in outstanding bills.

The company is, however, receiving some relief from the government, which will settle the GHC7.8 million owed to it by government agencies in three regions.

The Bono Regional communications officer of the GWCL,Ā Nii Abbey Nicholas,Ā revealed this at a media interaction in Sunyani to markĀ World Water Day.

“One of the challenges we face is the arrears build up. If you take the government, which has about GHC7.8 million, the good people of the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East Regions have consumed water up to GHC11.5 million.

To retrieve these arrears from customers, the GWCL has embarked on an intensive revenue mobilisation effort, with e-payment platforms at the heart of it.

Nii Abbey also urged customers to download and use the GWCL app to pay their bills and access other services.

The regional office of Ghana Water Company Limited climaxed the day with an interaction between the management and the media to project their performance, challenges and the way forward.

In his open address, the Bono Regional chief manager of GWCL,Ā Ing. John Eric Kwofie, said about two billion people across the globe do not have access to potable water, however, the company is working to address water challenges in the country.
