Otumfuo commends Bawumia for humility, supports presidential bid with prayers

Dr Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, was in the Ashanti Region to lead a three-day campaign mini-tour

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has welcomed the bid by Vice-President Bawumia to stand in the December presidential election and lead Ghana in 2025.

Giving audience to the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Asante king commended Bawumia, saying: “Political power has not changed you. You are still the humble Bawumia I have always known. My prayers are with you from now till December.”

The monarch also urged the NPP presidential candidate to acknowledge and address potential shortfalls candidly as he begins political engagements before the December polls.

“Share your vision with Ghanaians with respect, even to your opponents,” Otumfuo urged. “Ghanaians are ready to respond positively if you and your government admit their shortfalls and present pragmatic solutions,” he said.

The visit to Manhyia Palace on Wednesday (12 June) was part of Dr Bawumia’s three-day campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, a crucial stronghold for the governing party.

Dedication

Expressing his gratitude, Dr Bawumia reiterated his commitment to serving the nation with the same dedication and humility that have characterised his political journey.

Earlier, Vice-President Bawumia also engaged with the business community and leadership of various traders’ associations in the region.

He also distributed tablets to over 4,000 students of Opoku Ware Senior High School as part of the government’s plan to provide tablets to SHS students across Ghana to assist their education.

The campaign team also inspected some road projects in Kwabre East. The constituency, one of the ten most populous in the country and a secure seat for the New Patriotic Party, has been lacking in good roads despite its significant contribution to the NPP’s vote in the Ashanti Region.
