Nana Osaagyefo Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, the paramount chief of Wenchi Traditional Area, has issued a call for peace.
He emphasised the importance of voting peacefully and resisting any attempts by political parties or individuals to incite violence.
Speaking after a clean up exercise on Saturday (14 September), Nana Osaagyefo Anye Amoampong Tabrako urged the youth to avoid any actions that could lead to confusion or violence during and after the 7 December 2024 general elections.
The clean-up exercise is part of preparations for his upcoming coronation and the 5th anniversary of his enstoolment on 21 September 2024.
“I urge the youth of Wenchi, Wenchiman, and all Ghanaians to vote peacefully on 7 December 2024. We must not fight or let ourselves be used by any political party. The political parties (NPP and NDC) came to meet us, and we should not fight on their behalf,” said Nana Osaagyefo Anye Amoampong Tabrako III.
Nana Tabrako also highlighted that ‘Clean Wenchi 24’ is part of an ongoing commitment to improving sanitation. He announced plans to work with the Wenchi Traditional Council, Wenchi Municipal Assembly, and other stakeholders to enforce sanitation bylaws and address violations.
“The Wenchi Traditional Council, in collaboration with the Wenchi Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders, is committed to enforcing sanitation bylaws. Anyone who violates these laws will face penalties,” he stated.
Political figures praised the “Clean Wenchi 24” initiative. NPP parliamentary candidate Kojo ‘Boafo’ Frimpong commended Nana Osaagyefo Anye Amoampong Tabrako and the community for their dedication to the clean-up effort.
The Wenchi Fun Club Association and other groups, including Wenchi Kroye Kuo based in Barcelona, Spain, contributed approximately 60 dustbins to support the initiative.
The third edition of ‘Clean Wenchi 24,’ themed “Tradition Meets a Clean Wenchi for a Prosperous Future,” saw significant participation from notable figures including the Member of Parliament for the area, Alhaji Haruna Seidu, NPP Parliamentary candidate Kojo Boafo Frimpong, the MCE of Wenchi, Freedom parliamentary candidate, and the Wenchi Police Municipal Commander, among others.
Despite challenging weather conditions, participants, led by Nana Osaagyefo Anye Amoampong Tabrako, engaged in rigorous clean-up activities, including desilting gutters, sweeping streets, and clearing refuse dumps.
