Police Ladies march on in Women’s FA Cup

Next up for the Police Ladies is a semi-final encounter against the Supreme Ladies, who overcame Nasara Ladies 4-1 on penalties

Police Ladies continued their impressive run in the Women’s FA Cup, edging out holders Ampem Darkoa Ladies 2-1 in a thrilling quarter-final clash on Sunday (31 March).

Juanita Aguadze gave the Police Ladies a dream start, finding the net in just the eighth minute. However, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, determined to defend their crown, clawed their way back into the game through Latifa Abesik’s equaliser in the 52nd minute.

The momentum seemed to shift, but the Police Ladies displayed remarkable resilience. Substitute Sophia Mabena Agyaakwa’s strike in the 57th minute restored their lead. Ampem Darkoa Ladies were awarded a penalty in the dying moments, but they missed their chance to level the score, handing Police Ladies a well-deserved victory.

Next up for the Police Ladies is a semi-final encounter against the Supreme Ladies, who overcame Nasara Ladies 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

In another captivating encounter at the Auntie Aku AstroTurf, Division One League outfit Epiphany Warriors stunned Jonina FC 2-1. Sonia Opoku opened the scoring for the Warriors in the 61st minute, before Leticia Adjei’s dramatic strike in the 112th minute of extra time sealed their victory. Jonina FC’s Eunice Kpentey pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 85th minute, but it proved a mere consolation.

The sole Division One League team remaining in the competition, Epiphany Warriors, now faces a daunting task in the form of Women’s FA Cup giants, Army Ladies.
