Police place GHC50,000 bounty on Zuarungu cop killers

The police have a GHC50,000 bounty on the armed robbers who shot and killed two police officers in Zuarungu in the Upper East Region.

Constables Emmanuel Akowuah and Adam Suley, according to a police report, lost their lives as they responded to distress calls of a robbery attack on a shop in the Zuarungu township.

Dr George Akuffo Dampare made the announcement earlier Thursday (16 December) when he visited families and colleagues of the two officers who met their untimely demise in a shoot-out with armed robbers on Wednesday (15 December) night.

Constables Emmanuel Akowuah and Adam Suley, according to a police report, lost their lives as they responded to distress calls of a robbery attack on a shop at the Zuarungu township.

The regional police public relations officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police David Fianko-Okyere spoke further on the bounty, saying “As a show of commitment and the police administration resolve to ensure we get the perpetrators of this heinous crime, we know we can combat crime with information being shared. So, in view of this, the Inspector General of Police has given a bounty of GHC50, 000 to whoever will give us information leading to arrest of these perpetrators dead or alive.”

Dr Dampare who arrived in the region barely 10 hours after their gruesome murder, said the police would find the perpetrators dead or alive.

He assured residents of Zuarungu that the police will do everything within their power to apprehend the gunmen behind the killing of two officers.

ASP Fianko-Okyere said, “barely 10 hours after the incident, the Inspector General of Police in the person of Dr George Akuffo Dampare has paid a visit to the region to get first-hand information about the incident and also to raise the morale of our personnel.”

He added that “Earlier, he visited the crime scene at the Zuarungu Market Square. He also visited the chief and people of Zuarungu at the chief Palace. He met the community near the crime scene and assured them that he’ll do everything possible with the police administration to make sure we get the perpetrators of this heinous crime either dead or alive.”
