The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, former President John Dramani Mahama, has chosen Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to be his running mate in this year’s presidential election.

The national communication officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, announced that Professor Opoku-Agyemang had been selected as the running mate for the NDC ticket after a meeting between the flagbearer and the National Executive Committee at NDC headquarters in Accra on Monday 6 July.

“I can tell you that the running mate of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for the 2020 general election is Professor Jane Naana Opuku-Agyemang. That choice has been approved unanimously by the Council,” Gyamfi said.

He also said that the reasons for what he described as a “historic choice” will be laid out in a statement, to be issued later by former president Mahama.

We are certain in our minds that this is a winning ticket. His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, ably supported by the competent, trustworthy, honest, sincere, mature Professor Naana Jane Agyemang, will deliver victory for the NDC in the coming elections,” he declared.
