Roads Minister commends contractors in North East Region for quality work

Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister for Roads and Highways, last Wednesday (12 June 2024) paid a working visit to the North East Region

Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister for Roads and Highways has commended road contractors working on some urban and feeder roads in the North East Region.

The minister last Wednesday (12 June 2024) paid a working visit to the North East Region.

He started the road inspection in the Mamprugu Moaduri District on the Yizesi-Soobiisi road which is 52km and the longest kilometre of road ever completed by this government in the North East Region.

The sector minister and the entourage inspected feeder and urban roads, where some have been completed, especially in the Mamprugu Moaduri District, while others are still ongoing in the region.

His commendation comes at the back of the numerous road constructions that are ongoing in the region, especially in Mamprugu Moaduri District and West Mamprusi Municipality.

Asenso-Boakye said he is satisfied and feels elated seeing two renowned contractors, MAWUMS Company Limited and Doncross Construction Limited working tirelessly to complete the roads on schedule or even before schedule.

“I began the tour of the North East Region, having finished the tour of the Upper East Region, I am very impressed with the work of MAWUMS Company Limited for that part of the region that he is [doing his work].

MAWUMS Company Limited and Doncross Construction Limited are good contractors who are doing well.”

“In fact, for the feeder roads, they are in two-phase projects. Phase one and phase two are running concurrently and I am impressed with the work by Doncross, a Kumasi-based contractor, another very good contractor.”

Asenso-Boakye reiterated “I must say that I am very impressed with the work so far and I am very confident that the contractors will finish the projects on schedule or even ahead of schedule given the information that has been given,” Asenso-Boakye commended the two contractors for the good work done in the North East Region.

Meanwhile, the Minster for Youth and Sports and MP for Yagaba-Kubori, Ussif Mustapha who was also part of the tour said, “My colleague Minister [Asenso-Boakye] on behalf of the people of the region, especially Yagaba-Kubori constituency, we are so happy to see the number of road constructions in the area which we have not seen before, but this government, Nana Addo-Bawumia government has done a lot for us.”

“So, we want to thank you so much for your visit to the region. Our contractors are really doing well and we thank the government for all these developments,” Ussif Mustapha said
