Sam George, the MP for Ningo-Prampram, has commended the government over its decision to engage the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for support.
According to him, the action is long overdue, since the country’s economy has been in disarray for some months.
“We are officially going back to the IMF for a programme. Finally, common sense is prevailing,” the vociferous opposition lawmaker tweeted on Friday (1 July 2022).

President Akufo-Addo has authorised the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta to commence formal engagements with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
A statement signed by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said “This follows a telephone conservation between the president and the IMF managing director, Kristalina Georgieva, conveying Ghana’s decision to engage with the Fund”
