Samuel Takyi signs with Streetwise Management

Takyi was set to be a key member of Ghana's national team, the Black Bombers, who are set to compete in the World Olympic Boxing Qualifier in Bangkok, Thailand

Ghanaian boxing sensation and Olympic Games bronze medalist Samuel Takyi, known as “Ring Warrior” to his fans, has signed a new management deal with Streetwise Management.

This announcement comes on the heels of Takyi’s impressive gold medal win in the men’s light welterweight division at the 13th African Games held in Accra.

Takyi, a rising star in the world of boxing, announced on Wednesday (8 May) the switch from amateur to professional ranks.

“It is with a heavy heart that I leave the amateur ranks and fully commit myself to my professional career,” Takyi said in a heartfelt Facebook post. “It has been a fantastic journey and I want to thank all who helped me along the way, culminating in that historic time at the Tokyo Olympics, where I won my beloved Ghana a bronze medal.”

Takyi went on to express his gratitude to those who supported him throughout his amateur career, including coaches and government officials.

“I would like to thank Alhaji Inusa, Alhaji Taufiq and the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, for their support and to all my amateur coaches, including the Head Coach of the Black Bombers, Coach Asare, without whom I would not have achieved so much success,” he stated. “I hope now to have the same success in the professional ranks and bring another world champion home to Ghana. God bless you all!”

This signing marks a significant turning point for Takyi’s career. Previously, he was under the guidance of Bazooka Management & Promotions Syndicate, led by boxing legend Ike Quartey. Takyi’s decision to part ways with Bazooka Management in 2023 was driven by his singular focus on achieving Olympic glory.

Takyi re-enters the professional ring undefeated, boasting a perfect record of three wins, all by way of knockout.
