Seven picked up over clash with police

Police pick up LGBTQI suspects

At least seven persons have been arrested at Apam Junction in the Central Region in connection with a riot between some irate youth in the area and the police.

The riot erupted when the police moved in to stop the unauthorised construction of speed ramps on the Winneba-Apam road which had resulted in a gridlock on that stretch of the road.

According to eyewitnesses, the youth hurled projectiles at the police who were called in to stop the erection of the speed ramps.

The police had to call for reinforcement to ward off attacks from the rampaging youth. The melee left some police officers and the youth injured.

Speaking to Asaase News, the youth complained of frequent motor crashes on the road due to over speeding, claiming they have lost at least 10 persons.
