Storage facility: Rice buyers dry commodity at filling stations in Kassena-Nankana
Asaase News’s Upper East Regional Correspondent reports that during the peak of the harvest season, some commercial rice buyers struggle to find a place to store their products
Women in Kassena-Nankana in the Upper East Region who buy and sell paddy rice in commercial quantities have resorted to filling stations to dry and store the farm produce due to a lack of storage facilities.
With the rice harvest season at its peak, these traders in the area are faced with the seasonal problem of finding facilities to dry and store the commodity.
Castro Senyalah, Asaase News’s Upper East Regional Correspondent reports that though the Irrigation Company of Upper Region (ICOUR) operates a drying and storage facility in Navrongo, it is unable to contain the magnitude of rice produced seasonally, compelling traders to resort to available spaces at the filling stations where they pay to use them.
