Ghana Police Service: We’re not recruiting now

The law enforcement body says its recruitment notices are only published in the national newspapers

  • "The Police Administration warns the public against fake recruitment advertisements. The Police Service has not advertised recruitment, neither is it taking applications from potential applicants. Any press statement, advertisement or poster calling for interested persons to apply or pay to join the Police Service is false."

The Ghana Police Service has warned the public to disregard fake recruitment advertisements making rounds on social media because it does not use that medium to receive job applications.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Public Affairs Director of the Police, Superintendent Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman, said recruitment notices are only published in the national newspapers.

According to her, the Police Service has not created any special site for protocol recruitment, “neither has it authorised any individual or group to facilitate recruitment for the service so any person who falls victim to any advertisement purporting to recruit on behalf of Police Service does so at his or her own risk”.

It added: “The Police Administration warns the public against fake recruitment advertisements. The Police Service has not advertised recruitment, neither is it taking applications from potential applicants. Any press statement, advertisement or poster calling for interested persons to apply or pay to join the Police Service is false.”

“The Police Administration further warns that it has not created any portal for protocol recruitment, neither has it authorised any individual or group, within or outside the Police Service to recruit or facilitate recruitment for the Service. Any application for recruitment into the Police Service and requisite qualifications for this year 2021 would be published in the national dailies, particularly in the Daily Graphic and the Ghanaian Times in due time. Until then, any person who falls victim to any advertisement purporting to recruit for or on behalf of the Ghana Police Service does so at his/her own risk.

“The public should report any person, group or entity which advertises police recruitment to the nearest Police Station. Persons found culpable of such acts would be arrested and prosecuted”.
