TotalEnergies Thursday (4 November) launched the third edition of the “StartUpper of the Year Challenge” aimed at supporting start-ups in the country.

According to Olufemi Babajide, the managing director of TotalEnergies Ghana, financial support of GHC70,000 will be given to each of the three winners of the challenge with other benefits to promote their businesses.

“In terms of reward, there will be financial support which will be GHC70,000 to each of the winners, remember there is going be three winners. Apart from that, we are also going to mentor them. That’s going to be like a coaching sessio as well”, he noted.

Babajide further indicated that this move is part of the socio-economic activities by TotalEnergies aimed at achieving sustainable development by protecting the planet and creating jobs to reduce poverty.

“As you know Total Petroleum has been in Ghana for more than 60 years and it’s part of the ways we use to support the country. So for us, it’s in line with the socio-economic initiative taken by our group. It is very important that we reduce poverty and in reducing poverty, you have to create jobs and that is what we are doing,” he added.

Registration for this year’s start-up challenge will start on 4 November with candidates having until 23 December to submit their applications.
