TownHall meetings to expand to district level, says Titus Glover

The government on Tuesday (6 August) kicked off its 2024 regional town hall meetings and exhibitions in the Greater Accra Region

Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, Greater Accra Regional Minister, has announced the expansion of the government’s regional town hall meetings and exhibitions to every district, municipality, and metropolitan area.

The initiative, inaugurated on Tuesday (6 August) at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Hall in Accra, focuses on “Regional Revitalisation: Government’s Commitment to Growth, Development and Prosperity.”

It aims to update Ghanaians on developmental projects across all 16 regions under the Akufo-Addo & Bawumia administration.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show (ABS) on Wednesday (7 August), Glover stressed the significance of these events at the local level, citing his recent visit to the Asafotufiami festival in Ada, where the DCE of Ada East, Sarah Dugbakie Pobee, outlined 34 ongoing projects, including extending electricity to remote islands.

“Each district, municipality, and metro will have their own version of what we did,” Glover said.

“For example, I was in Ada on Saturday at the Asafotufiami festival. I was shocked to the marrow when, in the presentation of the district chief executive, Honourable Sarah Dugbakie Pobee, she was able to point out 34 different projects across the district deep into the overbank when you cross the river to the islands where we have extended electricity all over to those places.”

“So clearly, it tells you that we need to bring this information right at the doorstep of our people,” Glover noted.

“What we did yesterday was a regional base; now all the chief executives will go down [and] involve chiefs, assembly members, opinion leaders, media [and] all stakeholders right at the heart of their towns to explain and showcase what they have done in the district so that people will appreciate what government has done.”
