UGSRC apologises for “unintended religious content” at recent SRC fun trip
The SRC leadership stated that they did not anticipate one of the speakers, a pastor, would incorporate religious elements into the presentation, emphasising that it was never their intention to include religious content in the event
The University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC) has issued an apology for the unintended religious content that was present at a recent SRC fun trip event, acknowledging that it caused upset and disappointment among some students.
The SRC leadership stated that they did not expect one of the speakers to incorporate religious elements into the presentation.
In a statement, the council said, “We sincerely apologise for any distress and offense that this incident may have caused. We are committed to learning from this experience and to ensuring that all future events are planned and executed in a way that is respectful of all students’ belief.”
The University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC) affirmed its respect for the religious beliefs of all students and its commitment to diversity and inclusivity, expressing regret for the error and pledging to ensure future events are planned respectfully.
