Upper West Region: Police begin investigation into two killings in Wa

The police have assured the public that they are working to get those involved arrested to face justice

The police have commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of two persons in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region.

In a terse statement on Tuesday (18 June), the police said: “The two incidents were recorded today, 18 June 2024, at the Wa East Education Service office and the Wa Model JHS School.”

“We would like to assure the public, especially the residents of Wa, to remain calm as the police work to get those involved arrested to face justice,” the statement added.

Earlier reports said the lifeless body of the security guard for Wa East District Education Office annex was found on Tuesday morning.  Initial checks on the body reveal that his penis and parts of his throat have been cut off.

About a year ago, eleven security men were killed in a similar manner in the Upper West Region. This promoted a visit by the IGP and the subsequent deployment of police personnel to the area.

Barely a month ago, similar killings were recorded in Bole about 100 km away from Wa.
