Ursula Foundation will equip youth with skills for job creation, says Communications Minister

The Ursula Foundation is expected to be officially launched on Saturday (22 June ) in Dansoman in the Greater Accra Region

The Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has said, that her yet-be-launched Foundation will equip the youth with skills for job creation across Ghana.

The Ursula Foundation which will be officially launched on Saturday (22 June ) in Dansoman will also be climaxed with a fundraising event to support its work.

Already two institutions; New Century Career Training Centre and Ghana Code Club are partnering with the Foundation to equip beneficiaries with skills in bead-making, installation of CCTV, and coding among others.

Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (20 June) ahead of the official launch Owusu-Ekuful said, “It is the small entreprenures that grow our economy, how can we start putting them on the path to entrepreneurship, so I thought that, let’s set up the Ursula Foundation and start implementing a programme we call  ‘The You Push’…”

“And so, we are going to be providing digital, vocational, entrepreneurial skills, business development advises, we are going to be giving startup capital and looking at areas where people have interest and E-sport is one of the areas we will be looking into,” the minister said.

“Some people need as little as GHC200 to start selling oranges or eggs, where can they go for that assistance? Some need much money, but some need very little money. So what can we do to provide them with a small micro facility to get them on their feet… that is the idea behind Ursula Foundation, we don’t have money but we have a lot of ideas,” Ursula said.
