VGMA22: Diana Hamilton wins Artiste of the Year

The gospel musician Diana Hamilton was on Saturday crowned the Artiste of the Year at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs). Hamilton won after beating off fierce competition from Sarkodie, Medikal, KiDi, Kuami Eugene and Adina.

The “Adom” hitmaker is the first female gospel musician in the history of the VGMAs to take home the ultimate award.

She also won the awards for Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year.

In all, 30 awards were given out to deserving artists.

The highlife artiste Kofi Kinaata won the Songwriter of the Year award for the fourth consecutive time. He was also honoured with the Vodafone Green Award for his campaign against illegal fishing.

Eno Barony also won Best Rap Performance, making her the first woman to win in this category.

Mr Drew was named Best New Artiste and Adina’s new album, Araba, the Album of the Year.
