VIDEO: Agenda 111 projects progressing, says Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko

Some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) claim the NPP government has built no hospitals in the country

President Akufo-Addo has set an ambitious target of constructing hospitals across the country under the Agenda 111 programme.

In March 2022, while delivering the 2022 State of the Nation Address in Parliament President Akufo-Addo said he is determined to complete the hospital-building programme before he leaves office in 2025.

“We are undertaking the construction of 111 entities, which comprise standard 100-bed district hospitals for 101 districts without hospitals, with accommodation for doctors and nurses; six new regional hospitals [one] for each of the six new regions; the rehabilitation of the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital in the Western Region; one new regional hospital for the Western Region; and three psychiatric hospitals for each of the three zones of the country, ie, North, Middle and Coastal,” the president said.

Some members of the National Democratic Congress claim the NPP government has built no hospitals in the country.

In March 2024, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama expressed scepticism over the feasibility of the government’s Agenda 111 project, describing it as overly ambitious.

Mahama expressed his doubts during a discussion with clergy members in Accra, emphasising that the government’s plan appears unrealistic and unlikely to be completed within a reasonable timeframe.

However, the deputy general secretary of the ruling NPP, Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko, visited a hospital project under Agenda 111 in the Upper East Region during a tour with the presidential candidate of the NPP, Mahamudu Bawumia.
