VIDEO: Kudus wraps up impressive debut season with stunning overhead kick

Kudus matched his career-best tally of 25 goal contributions across 48 appearances in all competitions

Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus marked a memorable debut season at West Ham United with a sensational overhead kick against Manchester City, but the Hammers ultimately fell short as Pep Guardiola’s side secured a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title.

The 23-year-old’s acrobatic effort in the 42nd minute halved the deficit at the Etihad Stadium after City had taken a 2-0 lead.

However, Rodri’s strike on the stroke of halftime restored the Citizens’ two-goal advantage and ensured a night of celebration for the home faithful.

Despite the final result, Kudus can reflect on a hugely impressive debut season in the East End. The Ghanaian matched his career-best tally of 25 goal contributions (18 goals and 7 assists) across 48 appearances in all competitions.

This echoes his achievements in the 2022/2023 season with Ajax, where he managed the same figures in 42 games.

The Ghanaian’s impressive displays have reportedly attracted the attention of Liverpool, with rumours swirling that he could be a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, whose future at Anfield remains uncertain as the club prepares for life under new manager Arne Slot following the departure of legendary manager J√ľrgen Klopp.

The West Ham faithful have also recognised Kudus’ stellar contribution. Though he narrowly missed out on the club’s Player of the Season award to English winger Jarrod Bowen, his second-place finish is a testament to his impact on David Moyes’ side.
