Volta Region: Police on manhunt for hit-and-run driver

The suspect is urged to report himself/herself to the police to assist in investigations. The issue of hit-and-run of Fulanis is common on the Ho-Aflao highway

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region are on a manhunt for a hit-and-run driver who knocked and killed a Fulani man on the Ho-Aflao highway.

The accident occurred on Saturday 4 March at about 6am near the Agortime-Ziope district assembly bungalows.

An officer from the district police Command, Fred Kpanazo, said the victim was found dead at the scene of the accident. His remains has been deposited at the Ho Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The police say the deceased is in his 30s, fair in complexion, wore a pair of black trouser, a t-shirt, an underwear and a pair of rubber footwear.

Kpanazo said all efforts by the police to reach out to the deceased’s family have proved futile.

The suspect (the driver) is nowhere to be found. The police has called on the general public to report any information that will aid investigations to the Agortime-Ziope police station or the nearest police facility.
