Walewale: Don’t let politicians use and dump you, Imam cautions youth

Sheikh Mohammed Samson Kanawu has called on the youth in the North East Region to develop themselves instead of depending on politicians

A popular Islamic cleric in Walewale, Sheihk Mohammed Samson Kanawu, has cautioned the youth in the North East Region not to let politicians use them for political gains and dump them after the 2024 general elections.

Sheikh Mohammed Samson Kanawu is a highly respected imam in the North East Region who has gained popularity for his inspiring sermons and understanding of the Qur’an.

Speaking with Asaase News, he said, “Today, we are in an election year and we are pleading with the youth, let us not allow the politicians to use us for their personal gains. We will vote for them but when they go, they will not think about us.”

He added, “we will be here suffering every day but they will be enjoying themselves in their offices. When you call them, they will not pick up your call. That is how they are. So the youth, be careful with how you deal with these politicians and don’t make yourself useless in front of them,” Sheikh Kanawu said at the Eid-ul Adha gathering in Walewale.

“So the youth, be careful and take good care of yourselves. Hustle for what will help you here and hereafter but if you fight because of someone, the Holy Qur’an will catch you,” Sheikh Kanawu added.
