Women must support each other, says Stephanie Benson

The 51-year-old singer told Naa Ashorkor on Between Hours that women need to support each other everyday

UK-based Ghanaian international singer Stephanie Benson has suggested on Tuesday (8 March) that International Women’s Day should be an all-year round affair because “it’s all about women everywhere in the world.”

“We have to be reminded once a while that we are women who need to support each other everyday. We don’t do enough of that, it is on days like this that we need to come together as women and be proud of that,” Benson said on Asaase Radio.

“I have three girls and I teach them to be able to talk to each other and communicate, ask for help when they need it and just to be nice to each other and everybody else around,” she added.

Self-care

The 51-year-old singer told Naa Ashorkor on Between Hours that self-care is important to her and her family.

“When I wake up in the morning, I workout and do yoga, also I eat well.

“I’m never on a diet, I don’t believe in diet. I don’t like diet. Anybody who go on diet is wasting their time because as soon as you finish that diet, you are going to eat again,” Benson said.

She added that being affectionate towards everybody makes her live a happy life.

“I just love. I think that’s what makes me not stress so much. It’s because I love what I have, and I love my family.

“I love who I am, I don’t mind if someone wants to hurt me, it’s on them. It wouldn’t affect me, I won’t take it as disrespect, I just take it as a learning curve,” she said.
