World Aquaculture Society appeals to Ghana to host Aquaculture Africa 2026

World Aquaculture Society is calling for Ghana to work with the World Aquaculture Society African Chapter and the Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana to make this event a reality

Foluke Areola, President of the African Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society, has issued a strong appeal to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Ghana to collaborate in hosting Aquaculture Africa 2026.

Speaking at the Aquaculture 2024 event in Accra, themed “Stakeholder Collaborations: A Key to Building a Resilient and Strong Aquaculture Industry,” Areola emphasised the significant benefits that hosting such an event would bring to Ghana’s aquaculture sector.

“I am sending a strong appeal on behalf of the board of the World Aquaculture Society African Chapter and the entire membership of the World Aquaculture Society,” Areola stated.

She called on the Ministry to work with the World Aquaculture Society African Chapter and the Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana to make this event a reality.

Hosting Aquaculture Africa 2026 in Ghana promises numerous advantages, including international exposure for the country’s aquaculture sector, business-to-business engagements, and opportunities for students.

The event would also bring international experts to Ghana, facilitating the exchange of information, knowledge, and technologies.

“The benefits during and after the four-day event are manifold,” Mrs. Areola explained. “They include economic benefits from hospitality costs, accommodation, transportation, feeding, advertising, and sales of commodities. It will also promote the local industry.”
