World Vision Ghana donates over 13,000 books to Nkwanta library

World Vision Ghana has donated 13,300 books of various genres to revamp the Nkwanta South Municipal Library.

Kennedy Amponsah-Cheremeh, the education and life skills project officer, who donated the items on behalf of the Krachi-Nkwanta cluster manager, Edward Owulah of World Vision Ghana, said the donation is to ensure that 1.3 million school age girls and boys are able to read and comprehend grade level text.

The donation included, 450 copies of Webster dictionary, branded school bags, pencils and clothing to vulnerable girls and boys in after-school reading clubs and communities.

The Nkwanta South Municipal Hospital will also receive 300 pieces of flexible digital thermometers to help improve health care.

He added that the gesture is being replicated in Krachi West and Kadjebi Area programmes, which forms part of the Krachi-Nkwanta Cluster.

The municipal coordinating director (MCD), Joseph Abugre, thanked World Vision Ghana for the gesture.

Abugre encouraged school children to make it a habit to pass by the library and read after school.

Receiving the books on behalf of the Ghana Education Service, Jonathan Korsinah – the municipal director of education said, Nkwanta South Municipality is doing well in terms of education.

“This is evident in the fact that, in this year’s reading festival, a pupil was selected from Nkwanta South to represent the Oti Region at the national level.”

He added that World Vision gave his outfit a lot of pencils, erasers and other leaning materials to supply to different schools next year.
