2023 African Games: Organisers grant free entry to public except VIP, says LOC spokesperson

The move which excludes access to the VIP stands is expected to boost patronage of the games

Supporters at the 13th African Games are expected to enjoy free access to the venues of the competition effective Wednesday (13 March), the Local Organising Committee has announced.

The move which excludes access to the VIP stands is expected to boost patronage of the games.

“On the day of the opening ceremony, I don’t know whether our system was hacked, hours before kick-off anybody who went to buy a ticket had a challenge,” a spokesperson of the local organising committee of the 2023 African Games, Dan Kweku Yeboah said on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (12 March).

“Even yesterday a colleague of mine bought a ticket for the closing ceremony which is so many days away but the system says it was sold out,” he told host Kwaku Nhyira-Addo.

He added, “Fortunately, yesterday communication came from the ticketing team that, except for VIP and the wings close to the VIP, the rest of the stands are going for free. Hopefully, it will help us fill the stadiums.”
