Court dismisses AshantiGold’s injunction against GFA

AshantiGold SC went to court following their dissatisfaction over a GFA Disciplinary Committee decision to demote the club to Division 2

An Accra High Court has dismissed the application for injunction filed by AshantiGold SC against the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The court said AshantiGold SC failed to meet two of the three legal requirements needed for the grant of an injunction of this nature especially on the balance of convenience.

The court awarded cost of GHC20,000 against AshantiGold SC.

AshantiGold SC went to court following their dissatisfaction over a GFA Disciplinary Committee decision to demote the club to Division 2 after they were found guilty of match manipulation at the end of the 2020/21 season.

The club was subsequently suspended by the GFA for continuously dealing with its suspended officials.

On 29 September, 2022, the GFA suspended the league following AshantiGold’s court action.

The ruling paves the way for the betPawa Premier League to resume this weekend.
