Greater Accra Hockey League: GRA Ladies triumph as season gets underway

The 2023/2024 Sapholda Hockey League is set to run until 8 June, with games scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The 2023/2024 Sapholda Hockey League commenced on Saturday (27 April), at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium with the defending champions of the Women’s Division, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Ladies, securing a 3-0 win against Extinguishers Ladies.

Army Ladies dominated the Women’s Division with a 9-0 triumph over Legonknights Ladies, while Police Ladies drew 1-1 with Reformers Ladies.

In the Men’s Division, GRA started the season with a 3-1 victory over Reformers Men, Multi-Stix claimed a 3-1 win against Citizens International, Sapholda eased to a 3-0 victory over Golden Sticks, Legonknights Men edged past Ark Men with a 1-0 result, and Police Men secured a 3-2 win over Exchequers.

The defending Men’s Division champions, Army Men, will begin their title defence on Sunday (5 May) against Exchequers at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium.

The Greater Accra Hockey Association (GAHA) has signed an enhanced sponsorship deal with Sapholda Ventures Limited, increasing the financial commitment from GH50,000 to GH100,000 and aiming to develop the league and its players.
