Inflation rate for July 2023 increases to 43.1%

This is the fourth time in a row, inflation has risen marginally, according to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS)

The year-on-year inflation rate for July 2023 was 43.1%, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has announced.

This means that in the month of July 2023 the general price level was 43.1% higher than July 2022.

The figure is 0.6 percentage points higher than 42.5% recorded in the month of June 2023.

According to the government statistician Prof Samuel Kobina Annim food and non-alcoholic beverages were the main drivers for the increase. As food inflation rose by 0.8 percentage point.

Annim said the month-on-month inflation between June 2023 and July 2023 was 3.6%

The food inflation (0.427) was 55.0% as compared to June’s food inflation of 54.2%.

The month-on-month food inflation was 3.8%. Non-food inflation (0.573) was 33.8% as compared June’s non-food inflation of 33.4 %

Also the month-on-month non-food inflation was 3.4%. Inflation for locally produced items was 37.5% and Inflation for imported items was 45.7%.
