Navrongo NDC condoles with Mark Woyongo over death of son

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Navrongo Central has commiserated with Mark Woyongo, the former Member of Parliament for the area over the death his son.

Kenneth Woyongo, died in the early hours of Monday 25 September 2023. Details of cause of death have not been published. The family, has however, said funeral arrangements will be communicated in due time.

In a statement, the party said it has been devastated by the passing of Kenneth Woyongo, saying he was a friend and brother.

The constituency communications officer, Babere Kelly in the statement, said the party would continue to pray for grieving Mark Woyongo and his family. He also pledged their unwavering support to Woyongo during the difficult period.

“Our deepest sympathies and condolences to you and your entire family during this incredibly difficult time. We are devastated by the passing of our brother & friend, your beloved son, and our thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate through this painful loss.”

“Losing a child is an indescribable pain that no parent should ever have to endure. We can only imagine the depth of sorrow you must be experiencing, and we want to assure you that we are here to offer our unwavering support and assistance during this difficult period.” The statement read in parts.

Mark Woyongo was Member of Parliament for Navrongo central from 2012 to 2016, when he lost the seat to the New Patriotic Party’s late Joseph Kofi Addo.

Late Adda had made a strong comeback after he was also beaten by Woyongo in the 2012 elections.

Woyongo also served in different positions in the National Democratic Congress governments, including as Minister for the Interior, Defence and the Upper East Region.

In 2016, however, the NDC stalwart announced his retirement from active politics and has since gone into commercial farming.
