Sheriff Quaye set to defend WBO Africa lightweight title in Accra clash

Undefeated Ghanaian super welterweight Jacob Tetteh Laryea (11-0, 10 KOs) will also put his WBO Africa super welterweight belt on the line for the first time against the experienced Daniel Lartey (16-7, 14 KOs)

Ghanaian boxer Sheriff “One Time” Quaye (23-3, 15 KOs) is gearing up for his third WBO Africa lightweight title defence on Saturday (25 May), against the hard-hitting Michael “Black Punch” Dodoo (20-2, 19 KOs).

The fight will take place at the Dayaram Gangaram (DG) Hathiramani Sports Hall within the Accra Sports Stadium.

Quaye captured the title in December 2021 with a knockout victory over Tanzanian opponent Emmanuel “Sniper Man” Amos (18-8, 11 KOs).

Since then, he’s successfully defended his belt twice—defeating Nigeria’s Oto “Joe Boy” Joseph (22-2, 12 KOs) via unanimous decision and knocking out Ghana’s Bright Ayala (16-2, 11 KOs).

Currently ranked 14th in the WBO lightweight division, Quaye faces a significant challenge in Dodoo, who boasts an impressive 11-fight, unbeaten streak dating back to 2016.

The 28-year-old has racked up nine knockouts during this run, with two notable decisions: a unanimous victory over Fredrick Tetteh Sackitey (1-1, 1 KO) in May 2018 and a draw against Eric Quarm (11-4, 7 KOs) in April 2022.

The stacked fight night, promoted by Swavyblu Boxing Promotions, will also feature the WBO Africa super welterweight title fight.

The undefeated Ghanaian champion, Jacob Tetteh Laryea (11-0, 10 KOs), will put his belt on the line for the first time against the experienced Daniel Lartey (16-7, 14 KOs).
