Trade Queen Africa expands; Ghana chapter launched to empower women entrepreneurs

Ghana has officially inaugurated its chapter of Trade Queen Africa, a groundbreaking initiative by The African Young Entrepreneurs Federation (AFYEF), under the umbrella of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The pageant, themed “Beyond Beauty, Fostering Trade,” offers a platform for participants to exchange ideas on trade and culture, aiming to forge a unified African identity.
The event aims to empower dynamic young women from across the continent to promote intra-African trade.
Representatives from over 22 nations, including Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Sudan, and South Africa, are expected to participate in the grand event scheduled for July in Accra.
Selected contestants will undergo a week of housing and grooming at the national level, culminating in a final event to choose the winner.
The chosen candidates will then advance to the continental phase in Accra, spending a month in housing while activities are live-streamed for public voting.
The winner will be crowned as Miss Trade Queen.
The final event will feature a three-day exhibition, networking opportunities, panel discussions, entertainment, and cultural displays, culminating in the crowning of the Queen and runners-up.
Madam Alice Frimpong Sarkodie, Project Lead for Ghana, emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities like Trade Queen Africa to overcome trade barriers hindering Africa’s progress.
She highlighted the initiative’s role in energizing youth and women to complement existing efforts by organizations like AfCFTA.
President of AFYEF, Mr. Hissan Siita Sofo, urged participating nations to adhere to guidelines to ensure the event’s success.
