We are not seeking revenge against Uruguay, says Otto Addo

"I’m a strong believer that, if you don’t seek revenge, sometimes you even get more blessings from God. We will try to do our best to win this match and I think we’re confident enough to know that we can beat them," he told the GFA media

Black Stars coach Otto Addo has said he is not thinking about revenge in the run-up to Ghana’s final World Cup Group H game against Uruguay on Friday (2 December).

“I’m a strong believer that, if you don’t seek revenge, sometimes you even get more blessings from God. We will try to do our best to win this match and I think we’re confident enough to know that we can beat them,” he told the GFA media.

Depending on what happens in the other group game between Portugal and South Korea, a draw could be enough to see Ghana sail through to the last 16 at the expense of Uruguay.

Though a level score will allow the Black Stars to go through to the next round, Otto Addo is keen on victory for the Black Stars rather than playing for a draw.

“The good thing is that, in the end, a draw could also be good for us, but we want to win this game. I’m not too much thinking about revenge. It’s for me a normal game.”

“Surely, I also was really, really sad in 2010 when I watched the scenes and yeah it was a big chance for Ghana to proceed to the next stage but it’s yeah 12 years ago and now it’s different.”

“It’s a different match, different approach. Also, for me, it’s not revenge and I’m not a person who’s seeking revenge.”

The Black Stars are second in Group H with three points from their first two group games and need to avoid a defeat on Friday against Uruguay to secure qualification to the last 16.
