Ablakwa to Akufo-Addo: Scrap “strange” portfolios at Jubilee House

The North Tongu lawmaker argues that the continuous existence of such portfolios is draining the national purse

The MP for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has called on the Office of the President to scrap what he described as “strange” portfolios at the seat of government.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday (14 February), Ablakwa said: “Isn’t it time for the President to thank them for their “great transformative services” and drastically downsize so as to begin salvaging this junk economy?”

Considering Ghana’s current unprecedented economic catastrophe, it is extremely difficult to understand why the numerous strange portfolios President Akufo-Addo created at the presidency years ago under the rather convenient category of political appointees continue to exist as a reckless drain on scarce taxes.
