Growing up in Ghana has been a great blessing, says SOS Village boss

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (25 April), Mar Kekula, a Liberian, said he is interested in the economic freedom and empowerment of Africa

The national director of SOS Children’s Village Ghana , Alexander Mar Kekula has said growing up in Ghana has been a great blessing to him.

SOS Children Village is the world’s largest organization focused on ensuring that children and young people without parental care or at risk of losing it grow up with care will turn 50-years this year.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (25 April), Mar Kekula, a Liberian, said he is interested in the economic freedom and empowerment of Africa.

” Ghana is a peaceful country. There is unity and friendliness. I love the culture and having grown up here was a great blessing,” he said.

“I attended SOS school and after high school, I went to the US to further my education. When I was done with my studies, I returned to Ghana.”

He added, “I returned home to contribute to Africa because Ghana is where I lived and had my education. This idea was inspired by Mrs. Nkrumah, who was then the principal at the SOS International School. I rose to become the deputy director and subsequently the director of the SOS Village under the mentorship of Kojo Mensah, the then director of the SOS Village.”
