AFCON 2021: Check quotes of Coach Milovan Rajevac and Andre Ayew ahead of Morocco clash

The Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac and his skipper Andre Ayew addressed the press ahead of Ghana’s first group game at AFCON 2021 on Monday.

Ghana Coach Milovan Rajevac touched on a wide range of issues in his pre-match press conference ahead of Ghana’s 2021 AFCON Group C opener against Morocco on Monday.

He was accompanied by his captain Andre Ayew who shared thoughts about the team’s ambitions at this year’s tournament and the new debutants.

Below are quotes from Milovan Rajevac and skipper Andre Ayew

Andre on Ghana struggling to win the Afcon

I wouldn’t say there is a problem, we have been unlucky in the past editions, and we have the record of reaching the last 4 a couple of times and we need to keep working hoping that one day it will be our turn to win

Milo on Morocco

We prepared very well, and we know Morocco, we are positive, expecting a tough match and want people to expect an interesting match but we are hopeful of a good result

Milo on Kudus Mohammed

Kudus got injured in our last game against South Africa, he started training recently with his club (Ajax) so we are expecting him to join us in the coming days, a week’s time when he is fully fit and hopefully we can count on him as the tournament progresses

Milo on possible Covid issues in camp

Covid is a serious issue these days and I see some of the teams have problems and for us we did our PCR test and all players and officials are ok and we hope it stays like that throughout

Milo on Algeria Friendly

The situation with the new rules of players staying at the clubs didn’t help our preparations, the circumstances have been difficult, but we are feeling confident despite the Algeria defeat

Milo on playing Amartey as RB in Algeria Friendly

We didn’t have any right back for the Algeria game reason Amartey played at right back, Andy arrived late, and we couldn’t have started him, Let’s focus on the Morocco game and forget about the Algeria game

Milo on injuries and expectations

We don’t have any injuries and about expectations we have the quality and passion for this and we are dedicated to this, we know how this is so important to Ghanaians and we want us to make Ghanaians happy

Andre on expectations

I want to focus on what is ahead and we have qualified for AFCON and playoffs and the AFCON is a tough competition, people are seeing as underdogs which is part of football, we take it with a lot of determination and hunger to prove Ghana will never die and we will die for the jersey

Andre on new debutants

These guys have the opportunity to prove themselves to the world and we are there to help them, we try to let them understand what an AFCON means
