President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asked the director general of the Prisons Service, Patrick Darko Missah, to leave office, effective from 1 August 2021.
Missah is due for retirement on Saturday 16 October 2021.
āHe has, therefore, directed the deputy director general of the Prisons Service, Isaac Kofi Egyir, to act as director general of the Prisons Service, from Sunday 1 August 2021, until a new director general is appointed, also in accordance with the constitution,ā said a statement from the Office of the President signed by Eugene Arhin, director of communications.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, has been asked to proceed on his own terminal leave as COP George Akuffo Dampare takes over, effective from 1 August.
āPresident Akufo-Addo has conveyed, in person, his gratitude to both Mr James Oppong-Boanuh and Mr Patrick Darko Missah for their dedicated and meritorious services to the nation and to the Police and Prisons Service, respectively, and wished them the very best in their future endeavours,ā the statement said.
