A 47-year-old assistant headmaster of Mpatasie D/A Junior High School in the Amansie South District in the Ashanti Region has died after he fell into a mining pit.
Akwasi Anane had embarked on a routine trip to his ‘mining concession’ at about 9pm on Tuesday (4 October) when the incident occurred.
He was said to have missed his step and fallen into an abandoned mining pit. His body was immediately pulled out of the mud after a rescue mission.
He was, however, confirmed dead at the scene.
Edward Oduro Nsiah, a district coordinator for the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for Amansie South confirmed the development to Asaase News.
