Ashanti Region: Fire sweeps through SIMMS SHS boys’ dormitory
The blaze rapidly spread through three rooms, causing extensive damage to the students' belongings and prompting an urgent evacuation
Fire engulfed the boys’ dormitory at SIMMS Senior High School in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region on Friday (13 October), but no casualty was recorded.
The blaze rapidly spread through three rooms, causing extensive damage to the students’ belongings and prompting an urgent evacuation. Firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene to combat the fire.
The exact cause of the inferno remains undetermined.
The officials of the school have yet to make a decision regarding the affected students. The Kwabre East Municipal Fire Commander, Akua Brago, said investigations have begun into the incident.
“We received a distress call around 11:40a.m. about a fire outbreak in the school,” Brago told Asaase News. “Our men were dispatched to the scene… Now I can say the fire has been controlled and investigations would be launched to ascertain the cause.”
