Claims of illegal connections at Osu Police Barracks and Kumasi Central Police Station false, say police

The police say there is no incentive for the Service or any of its officers to steal electricity as alleged by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)

The Ghana Police Service has said the claims of illegal connections and power theft at the Osu Police Barracks and the Kumasi Central Police Station by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) are false.

The police say the payment of electricity bills is centrally managed and not directly paid by individual officers, hence, there is no incentive for the Service or any of its officers to steal electricity as alleged by the ECG.

In a statement, the Police Administration said it is surprised by these allegations.

According to the police, investigations have shown that all the connections at the Osu Police Barracks and the Kumasi Central Police Station were done by the Electricity Company of Ghana.
