ECG boss to Minority: We’re not callous to release dumsor timetable if there is any

The managing director of ECG says his outfit is not callous to release a loadshedding timetable if there is any

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has allayed fears that the country has returned to the era of power rationing also known as dumsor.

The assurance is coming on the back of recent outburst by some consumers over the recent erratic power supply in parts of the country.

The Minority in Parliament has since called on the Electricity Company of Ghana to immediately publish a timetable for the ongoing power cuts to enable people plan their lives.

However, speaking to Benjamin Offei-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (1 March), The managing director of the ECG, Samuel Mahama said ” As a company we are not that callous that we will be going into a load shedding and we will not give a timetable for people to plan their lives.”

“I think I take the blame for this; I would like to say a big sorry, I would like to apologise for what has happened in the past few days. I know there has been a lot of speculation and we have allowed people to plug into the narrative, but the truth of the matter is that most of the narrative out there are all wrong.”

Mahama added “I would like to take this opportunity to say that dumsor is not back, we suffered a maintenance setback, everybody knows about ECG, but most people don’t know that it is a value chain, for EC what is given to us is what we distribute.”
