ECG restores power to Parliament after partly clearing GHC23 million debt

Electricity supply to the Parliament House and Job 600, the office complex for Members of Parliament was on Thursday disconnected due to a GHC 23 million debt

Power has been restored to Parliament after the legislature cleared GHC13 million out of the GHC23 million debt, the managing director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Samuel Mahama has said.

Electricity supply to Parliament House and Job 600; the office complex for Members of Parliament was on Thursday disconnected due to a GHC23 million debt.

The disconnection is part of the ongoing “Operation Zero Balance” initiative by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) task force.

“Power has been restored, they made more than half of the payment to us, and we agreed on a few other modalities for the balance to be paid,” Mahama told the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (1 March)

“It was GHC23 million and of which GHC13 million has been paid,” the ECG boss added.
